Among all of life’s trials, the death of a loved one can be the most damaging to those who remain behind. When we fail to recognize and come to terms of our own grief reactions, our own lives can become more difficult and painful. Likewise, when we confront our griefs in community with others who share our loss, the way can become open to joyful and hopeful living.

Grief can impair people’s health and spirit not only in the immediate aftermath of a death, but sometimes for years or even decades afterward. FirstServe offers this support group process to assist people in sharing their grief and loss experiences, with the goal of transforming griefs into renewed and restored living.

“The Lazarus Circle,” a weekly conversation and support group for people living with grief, meets on four successive Saturdays from 2:30-5pm. Pastor Bill Hurst leads this group. Sessions include presentations on grief and loss, and time for sharing.

The group welcomes people to attend all of these four gatherings, whether their grief is recent or long standing.
