Caring Companions

We train volunteers to accompany seniors to medical appointments, and to advocate for better connections with healthcare providers and medical offices. Volunteers are trained in effective listening and responding, and how support elders in their interactions with healthcare professionals.

Caring Companions Families

“CC Families” is a series of free community education gatherings, helping seniors and their adult children to understand and manage the many aspects surrounding elder health and cognitive decline. Presentations will include a variety of elder and family issues — including the crucial areas of medical, legal, healthcare, family dynamics and estate planning.

These gatherings will be led by our Program Director, Dr. Mary Tabata. Mary has decades of experience and training in case management, grief counseling and elder support. Experts will present on these areas, and FirstServe leaders will offer professional connections to assist families in dealing with these important issues.
