William Hurst - Executive Director
Bill is the Executive Director of FirstServe Community Services and Senior Pastor of First Lutheran Church and School. He is a graduate of Queens College (CUNY), and holds the Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. He has served on a number of not-for-profit boards, including Wartburg Lutheran Services in Metropolitan New York, and the Diakonia Lay Formation program.
Karen Davis - Finance Director
Karen Davis has over 25 years of experience in the business field, including managerial, financial, and administrative in both non-profit and for-profit domains. Karen holds an MBA from California State University at Long Beach. She began her work life with the American Red Cross where she was a volunteer before being hired as a paid staff member in the Blood Services division. She has also worked for New City Parish and Clothes the Deal. She has received extensive nonprofit management training from the Center for Nonprofit Management and the Long Beach Nonprofit Partnership.

David H. Julifs - President
David is President of the First Serve Board. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and a MS in Electrical Engineering from USC, and he currently works as an Engineering Project Manager at Raytheon Company. David also serves as the Vice President of the First Lutheran Church Counsel, Secretary of First Lutheran Church, is a Board member of the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Illinois, and Division Coordinator for youth basketball tournaments.
Tom Pulte - Treasurer
Abigail Hollingshead - Secretary
Abigail works in Institutional Giving at The Music Center in downtown Los Angeles. Before moving to California, Abigail worked at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. She graduated from the Ohio State University and has worked in special events, public relations, and marketing for a number of non-profits including the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA, The Ohio Arts Council, and BalletMet Columbus.
Sharon Huber was a Nurse for the University of Minnnesota Medical Center. She worked in the Pediatric and OB-GYN wards. She attended St. Olaf College in Northfield Minnesota and has a BS in Nursing from the University of Minnesota. She serves First Lutheran Church and School as a Lay Minister by visiting the homebound.
Jeanne works as a Materials and Process Engineer and holds a MS from California State University Long Beach. She is the President of the Board for Lutheran Retreats, Camps & Conferences. She is Chairman of the Board for ECHO. She also serves as an adult leader for FLC youth.
Dawn works has worked as a chaplain and bereavement counselor for a hospice. She holds the Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary and completed nine Clinical Pastoral Units at UCLA Medical Center. She also holds a MA in Technology Based Education from CSUDH. She is currently completing a Field work assignment at First Lutheran Church and School in preparation for Rostered ministry in the ELCA.
